Tactile Teaching Methods

Tactile teaching incorporates the sense of touch in learning. Students use "feeling" to make sense of information. Include items that keep their hands involved. Here are some examples of tactile methods:

Use clay or Play Doh to form and name letters.

Place paper on top of plastic canvas to create a bumpy texture when forming letters or words.

Include books that have texture or pop ups that can be manipulated while reading.
Clay and Play Doh can be used to form numbers.

Plastic letters can be sorted and placed on top of alphabet charts.
